Sharp Azteca fillies going for the second time as a maiden are 40% winners, so my choice is 6-Alma Rosa (3/1). What makes this more compelling is that trainer Bernardo Lopez is 2/5 with 2yo’s in their second start. Then, toss in that :47.2 work on July 1 and you have a ready horse.

2-Opposites Attract (5/1). Paying $170K for a colt that you geld has got to be disheartening, so it stands to reason that they are going to win straight away. Debuting at the top level of 2yo’s at Woodbine, he was sent off as the 2nd favorite and had a troubled trip. Since that June 12 race, he has put in three good works and every horse that has returned from that race had a big improvement in speed numbers. Leading rider thus far, Victor Corrasco, is up.
