It’s Wednesday and we’ve got some more racing from Delaware Park. We are expecting fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work!
Wednesday at Delaware Park:
Race 3: Steady John - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Maidens sprint 6 furlongs here and the likely favorite, Coppola, breaks from the rail for a barn who does well with first time starters but also a barn who’s not afraid to send horses to New York where the purses are much larger. My thought is that if this $800k purchase was a world beater he’d be debuting at Saratoga this week and not Delaware. Steady John ran on nicely last time out finishing a 25/1 second to HeavensGotFire who returned to run a similar speed figure. To me that helps to validate the form in that race. Steady John was steadily getting to the winner that day and closed with a final 1/8th of a mile in 12.10, a snappy closing time. If this heavily favored firster isn’t the goods, I’d be thrilled with 6/1 on Steady John.
Best of luck to everyone playing Wednesday’s races from Delaware Park!
