Churchill Downs Race 2 - $92K Restricted Maiden Special

2yo fillies that sold or RNA for $45K or less going 5.5 furlongs

With Kenny McPeek having an 0/7 record with 2yo’s, I am going to fade the morning line favorite 6-Gonna Cut it (5/2). Also fading 3/24 Steve Asmussen’s horse 7-Holy Foley (3/1). 4-She’ll Never Know is the choice as 22% trainer Tom Amoss sends her to post. A filly by Ghostzapper, she is 1/2 sister on the dam side to multiple /graded stakes winner Sarah Sis. She has had three solid :48 works, a :47.6 on June 14 and a 1:01.4 breeze on June 22.

Churchill Downs Race 4 - $92K Restricted Maiden Special

2yo fillies that sold or RNA for $45K or less going 5.5 furlongs

Morning line favorites, 5-Cotton Candy Annie (9/2) and 4-Shoplifter (8/5) return today after competing against each other on June 18. Both had morning works of :49.2 and :49.4 respectively, so am questioning if laying a short price on either is worth it. First crop sire Sharp Azteca, of Cotton Candy Annie is 2/2 with second starters and Super Saver, the sire of Shoplifter, a strong 28% with second time starters. With McPeek training Shoplifter, I will fade her unless he gets off the schneid in the second race. Second in the morning line odds, 6-Sirius Light (7/2), is by City Of Light, who is by leading sire thus far this year, Quality Road. Her :47 workout on June 18 and getting the leading rider, Tyler Gaffalione, makes her of interest. I am going with the Justify filly 7-Jordan (6/1) who will have the benefit of breaking from the outside and given her last gate work of :46.8, she should commandeer the lead and not look back.
