Parx Race 8 – The $100K Power By Far Stakes

3yo’s↑ fillies and mares, PA bred, going five furlongs on turf

Ten line up in this with only two scoring a win on turf and the prohibitive favorite, 4-Chub Wagon (9/5) has never raced on turf. There is little in her lineage to suggest a turf runner other than her ½ sister on the sire side, Windixiewin, who is 6/2-0-2 on turf. This 5yo mare by Hey Chub has never run this distance, yet her trainer has prepped her well given her uber speedy :45.8 gate work on June 15. Incredibly, she is 11/10-1-0 lifetime for $534K. We will see if she will jump to the lead or close because 5-Hey Mamaluke (9/2), 8-Hipnotizada (6/1), and 1-Disco Ebo (10/1), will all be fighting her for it. I will have to go chalk in this as there is no other horses in this that matches Chub Wagon’s abilities.

Parx Race 10 – The $100K Crowd Pleaser Stakes

PA Bred 3yo’s going 8.5 furlongs on the turf

Ten go off in this route and 8-Twisted Ride (5/1) is the only entrant with a stakes win. 3-Loose Ends (3/1) is coming off a big win in the slop at Delaware going a mile seventy, scoring a 10-length win and netting a 100 Equibase score. After 8 races, it is tough to conceive her besting that score, so a bounce is predicted. I am going with a favorite angle of a horse trying turf for the first time gets within two lengths of the winner, and in its next start, if it is turf also, it should net a two length better effort. So, my choice is 5-Sharp Red Eagle (8/1) who just missed by a neck on the turf at this course and is stretching out one more furlong.

Happy Hunting!
