Delaware Park:
Race 4: 3rd@ 3.70/1
I didn’t love the Delaware Park card yesterday but thought Race 4 offered some value. I got the speed duel I thought might materialize but instead of going on a suicide mission, the two speeds set reasonable fractions and had plenty left in the stretch to hold off the closers including our selection, Ghost Maiden, who chased three-wide, was taken to the five path entering the stretch and ran on for third.
I’m heading to Belmont Park for Thursday’s races. We had rain for most of the day on Wednesday but there’s none in the forecast for Thursday so I’m handicapping for fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work.
Thursday at Belmont Park:
Race 5: A Bit o’Irish Sass - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)
Turf runners go a mile and an eighth on the green. Our morning line favorite at 6/5 is Marvelous Maude who has already lost to a few of these and she had no excuse last time out losing as the odds on favorite. A Bit o’Irish Sass will be a rank outsider here. She’s got one sibling who ran her best races on grass and her mom actually never raced on turf but was a synthetic track specialist. I find it so interesting to see Luis Saez stay here. One of the top riders in the country and he lost riding this one last time out on dirt but she’s got a bullet workout at five furlongs and looks well meant for a trainer who can pop at a price.
Best of luck to everyone playing Thursday’s races from Belmont Park!
