Race 9: 9th@ 10.50/1
Our Saturday began with Jimmy the Boot stalking the pace from the outside. It was a fast pace but he wasn’t able to quicken with the leaders and he checked in fourth. In today’s feature race, the Grade 3 Poker, heavily favored Masen didn’t disappoint. Stalking the speedy Wolfie’s Dynaghost before taking command and holding off the closers. In Race 9, our little experiment with Forty Two Ace going first time turf didn’t work out as he was never in the hunt.
Let’s close out the week at Belmont Park: we expect the streak of nice weather to continue and a fast main track and firm turf course are both expected. I didn’t like Saturday’s card much but I see some potential for Sunday. Let’s get started.
Sunday at Belmont Park:
Race 10: Mucho Macho Comet - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)
Maiden claimers sprint 6 furlongs on turf here. The runners who have already run haven’t done much yet so I’m siding with a new face named Mucho Macho Comet. This runner hails from the barn of Patricia Generazio for Jim Ryerson who often uses jockey Kendrick Carmouche with his live runners. Everyone on the dam’s side of this pedigree raced for these same connections and while most of the runners in the bloodlines have performed in dirt sprints, this is the same ownership group who had Grade 1 winning turf sprint stars like: Pure Sensation and Disco Partner. Plenty of workouts on the tab to say this one could be live at first asking.
Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Belmont!
