Race 12: SCRATCH

Our day at Belmont began in Race 2. Bright Future took all the money but was no match for a wire to wire winner in Uncle Moonlight. In Race 4, Speak of the Devil was off slowly and inside on the far turn finishing a lackluster fourth. In Race 5, Max Player was bumped at the start but really didn’t make much of an impact on the race at any point. We finally got on the board in Race 6 when Jack Christopher ran to a most impressive ten length victory in the Woody Stephens Stakes. In the Ogden Phipps, Malathaat brought us within a head of back to back wins but Clairiere turned the tables on her at the wire. In the Jaipur Stakes, Gear Jockey was outside and three wide on the turn before tiring. We got our second win when Flightline, who was off slow steadily wore down Speaker’s Corner en route to a convincing 6 length score in the Met Mile. In the Manhattan, Adhamo was rated a little too long off the pace set by his stablemate, Tribhuvan and we had to settle for second behind that runner. In the Belmont Stakes it was our selection - Mo Donegal - we had him in the Wood Memorial and he ran down a loose-on-the-lead Early Voting, who would go on to win the Preakness. In the Derby he went ten wide. Today he got the right trip and he got the win. Our longshot scratched in race 12 to close the day.

3 wins (all three were TWO POINT WIN bets) , two seconds and a third place finish from 9 picks after the scratch. I hope you enjoyed the day.

Here’s a replay of yesterday’s Belmont Stakes:

We’ll close out the week of racing with another day of racing at Belmont Park. We have some rain in the forecast so I’ve taken that into consideration. Let’s slam the door on Belmont Stakes week!

Sunday at Belmont Park:

Race 7: First to Act - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)

Allowance runners go a mile on the main track. Last time out, First to Act won while being on the pace. Today, with the presence of Equal Pay and Brattle House to her outside, she’ll almost certainly have to rate a little. Last time out she defeated stablemate Aunt Naughty who came back to run a game second on Friday’s race card. Two others from that race have already returned to win. Luis Saez takes over riding privileges from Javier Castellano and that sounds just fine to me.

Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Belmont Park!
