Twilight racing tonight and it is going to rain

Churchill Downs Race 3 - $120K Maiden Special

2yo fillies going five furlongs

The ownership group of Deuce Greathouse & Deuce Greathouse et. al., send out the entry/favorites with 1-Towhead and 1a-Les Bon Temps (7/5) Towhead’s sire, Malibu Moon, is an 8% winner with first time fillies and Mike Maker is an 11% winner. Les Bon Temps sire, Laoban, is a 13% sire with 2yo fillies and Norm Casse is a 15% winner. Towhead put up two excellent works in her last leading up to this – a :47.4 and a :47.8. Les Bon Temps’ last two were :48.8 & :47.8. 5-Mo Bonita (8/5) by 15% sire Uncle Mo just clicked a :48 from the gate leading up to today. She is trained by 16% winner with 2yo’s Steve Asmussen. Being the non-chalk type, I am going to pass these three and go with 3/3 trainer of 2yo’s, George Arnold. George saddles 2-Fun Money (4/1) out of first crop sire Mrazek. She has had three :48 breezes with one out of the gate. Both Mrazek and dam Saudi Chroma won in their bow posting Equibase speed numbers greater than today’s 81.

Churchill Downs Race 5 - $120K Maiden Special

3yo↑ fillies going five and a half furlongs

$500K 2021 KEE SEP YRLG sale Into Mischief filly, 4-Little Mambo (4/5) is 0/4 thus far yet has been competitive with big Equibase numbers. She has been quite the money burner, going off as the odds on her last two and not getting it done. Little Mambo exits a key race, yet not a great key race, with the two finishers in front of her winning and four of the five whom have raced, scored lesser numbers that their previous race. She had a solid :48.4 work on May 14 and a freshening of :37.6 on May 21. She has one race in the mud where she took the lead into the stretch before tiring, making her a tough out today. 2-Sha Girl (10/1) – not a real fan of Frosted first timers, yet in this case, with 3yo↑ first time fillies, he is a solid 17%. Dale Romans a meager 8% first time winner and he has her working well going into today with a :48.6 from the gate, a :47.8 breeze and a 1:01. I am going to take a crack with a price and 7-Divine Hope (10/1) with sire American Freedom (38% winners w/1st time 3yo↑ fillies) and the outside post. She worked a bullet :59.2 from the gate on May 13, so I expect Francisco Arrieta to blast her off, get the lead and force these maidens to take on mud splash and shake loose of Little Mambo.

Happy Hunting!
