In Race 5, Chameleon was bumped at the start, raced between two and four wide on the turn and finished between horses for fourth in his turf debut. In Race 6, Phat Man chased two wide, came four wide into the stretch and finished third as the race favorite. Chief Cheetah broke from the eleven post and was taken off the pace. Went 6 wide on the far turn and continued on well in his first turf start to finish fourth and missed the win by about two lengths at nearly 16/1 odds.

Let’s take another look at some races from Delaware Park for Thursday as we look to get on the board there. Once again we’re expecting fast and firm conditions with mild temperatures. Let’s get started.

Thursday at Delaware Park:

Race 6: Zen Master - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 9/2)

Allowance optional claimers sprint six furlongs here and trainer Brittany Russell was blanked on opening day at Delaware although she had a few seconds and thirds. I don’t expect her “0-fer “ streak to last very long as her overall win percentage at Delaware over the last five years is a whopping 35% at an average payoff of $6.40. But in the meantime we may get better odds than we usually would on her runners. Zen Master cuts back in distance from a mile after breaking his maiden at Laurel at seven furlongs. Four works since his most recent start including a five furlong bullet indicate he’s ready to run. He should be able to sit just off morning line favorite Capt. Candy to his inside and that one has had issues staying six furlongs (he’s never won beyond five and a half furlongs and never been better than sixth in two starts at six furlongs).

Best of luck to everyone playing Thursday’s races from Delaware Park!!
