Saturday’s Race Recap from Belmont Park:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Belmont Park can be found here:

Belmont Park:

Race 5: 6th@ 6.10/1

Race 6: 8th@ 3.80/1

Race 7: 1st@ 1.75/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 8: 2nd@ 2.85/1

Race 10: 9th@ 8.00/1

In Race 5, Fancy Feline saved ground early and continued along the rail for most of the race and was one paced in the lane, checking in sixth. In Race 6, Big Bee tracked the early pace four wide and faded in the drive. We got on the board in Race 7 when Southern District raced in hand, four wide most of the way, made his bid entering the stretch and drew off to win by two lengths. In Race 8, Rally Squirrel set the early pace but was overhauled in mid stretch finishing a clear cut second behind the winner. In Race 10, Basis Risk never mounted a rally on debut.

We’ll head back to Belmont Park to close out the week and open up the month of very merry month of May. We’re expecting sunny skies and mild temperatures with a fast main track and a firm turf course. Let’s get started.

Sunday at Belmont Park:

Race 9: Rugged Union - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Maidens sprint 7 furlong on grass in this one and Rugged Union races off more than a year layoff after two pop-and-stop efforts to begin his career over the dirt for trainer Todd Pletcher. Now trained by Danny Gargan (who’s winning at 26% for the year), Rugged Union shifts to turf for the first time and Gargan has some solid stats - winning 27% with new acquisitions, 46% with runners returning from layoffs over 6 months, 12% first time turf, 32% first time Lasix and wins 20% of his turf sprints. He also does quite well with jockey Kendrick Carmouche, who’s an aggressive rider. Plenty of fast works on this one’s work tab. If this one breaks well he might prove tough to run down.

Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Belmont Park!
