Thursday’s Race Recap from Belmont Park:

(All odds US)

Race replays for yesterday’s races from Belmont Park can be found here:

Belmont Park:

Race 1: 3rd@ 4.40/1

Race 3: 1st@ 0.55/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 4: 8th@ 26.50/1

Race 5: 2nd@ 25.30/1

We kicked off the Belmont spring meet with Race 1 over the grass. Eau Claire stalked a slow early pace and fought on for a third place finish behind impressive debut winner Rheaume. She looked like she needed the start after the long layoff. In Race 3, No Salt got the trip we expected off the early speed and drew off in the stretch to a no-doubt-about-it win. In Race 4, Marathoner gave us a thrill at long odds where he contended for about 5 furlongs before calling it a day and packing it in. In Race 5, Scherzando was taken back to stalk the pace at 25/1 odds and mounted a serious rally in the stretch passing every rival but one – the favorite – to lose by a hard-fought neck at long odds.

We’re heading back to Keeneland for Friday’s race card featuring the return of War Like Goddess, Grade 1 turf winning older filly and mare in the Grade 3 Bewitch Stakes. One of the more exciting runners last year. Expecting fast and firm conditions despite some light rain in the forecast for Friday. Let’s get to the action!

Friday at Keeneland:

Race 10: Spin Wheel - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Allowance runners go a mile and three sixteenths on the grass and Spin Wheel is getting another chance on the green after finishing a -better-than-it-looks sixth place finish in his debut effort. From there he broke his maiden two starts later. Was thrown on the Kentucky Derby trail and took a shot in the Tampa Bay Derby where he didn’t run badly. Today he gets back to the turf which is the surface he’s bred for. Tomlinson figure is 342 and trainer George Arnold knows how to win with a bomb on turf at Keeneland. Three works since his last start including a bullet signals he’s ready and Lasix has been added to his arsenal. Look for Spin Wheel to be rolling late.

Best of luck to everyone playing Friday’s races from Keeneland!
