In case you were wondering how I fared last Friday…I came in sixth. My card number was 5050, so if 6th of over 5K is accurate, that is not too shabby.

Keeneland Race 4 - $100K Maiden Special

Fillies and mares 3yo’s↑ going 5.5 furlongs on turf

1-Chardy Party (3/1) by Dark Angel (IRE) is a Wesley Ward first time with Irad up. This filly is ½ sister to multiple graded stakes winner Raging Bull. Excellent :47.6 breeze a week ago; she is ready. 11-Doozy Batz (9/2) is another Ward first time and Johnny V is in the irons. An Uncle Mo filly, she has had a steady diet of increasingly improving works, including a :47.8 from the gate on 4/13. I am going with 5-Xtreme Gem (6/1) in this as she has sown to favor Keeneland with her debut here hitting a 78 Equibase number, and recent work of 1:00 on 4/23. I am adding 4-Trouble Making (15/1) with the big cutback and Turfway shippers have been sneaky good this meet. I am also adding 9-Never At All (10/1). Every once in a while, Mahoning Valley shippers sneak one in.

I will go 5 on top to win and 2x to show. I am taking 5 with 9 & 4 in an exacta box. I am then taking a 9-4-5/9-4-5-1-11/9-4-5-1-11 trifecta.

Keeneland Race 5 - $100K Maiden Claiming

Fillies and mares 3yo’s↑ going seven furlongs

I am going with 1-American Heights (4/1), a Santa Anita shipper who appeared to have shown promise in her three year old, four start campaign. She has been on the rise numbers-wise and gets hot jockey Gerardo Corrales in the irons.

Keeneland Race 8 - $100K Maiden Special

Fillies and mares 3yo’s↑ going one mile furlongs on turf

I am going with 5-American Pyramid (3/1) who grabbed the lead at the top of the stretch last out before battling and tiring to a place finish. That was at Keeneland on April 8 and she returned to a :47.6 work. Trainer Wayne Catalano a 27% dirt to turf trainer and since her last was on a wet track, mud runners make good turf horses, and she should get up. With all the speed in this race, look for 6-Robin’s Fantasy (20/1) and AE 14-Fits The Jill (12/1) to get a slice.

Happy Hunting!
