Wednesday’s Race Recap from Tampa Bay Downs:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Tampa can be found here:

Tampa Bay Downs:

Race 4: 6th@ 1.60/1

Race 7: 3rd@ 2.40/1

Race 9: 1st@ 1.80/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

In Race 4, Macreletta stalked the pace but was unable to quicken in the lane fading to 6th. In Race 7, Gimmebackmybullets gave it a good run on debut, knifing in between horses turning for home. Was momentarily squeezed back and had to re-rally outside and checked in 3rd. In Race 9, Lemon Creek Louie got the perfect fast pace setup we were expecting and stormed by the staggering field turning for home to win by nearly 12 lengths.

A win and a third place finish from three selections is how we start the week.

Let’s move up north to chilly, rainy, Aqueduct where we were supposed to have opening day for the turf season but we will instead be handicapping for an off track as it’s supposed to rain for much of Thursday. Let’s get to the action.

Thursday at Aqueduct:

Race 8: Angeli Blu - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)

Maiden claimers sprint six furlongs here and the rail runner has the best early speed. If he gets an easy lead he may never look back. But that one is likely to be a short price and has only hit the board once. I'm looking at a runner returning from an August layoff. Angeli Blu didn’t show much in his only start on dirt at Monmouth Park last July and his turf starts looked better than his dirt start but this runner has three strong five furlong workouts followed by a 3 furlong bullet workout to show he’s ready to go. There are no killers in here and this newly gelded runner has the look of one who might be primed to win on his very first drop into maiden claiming company.

Best of luck to everyone playing Thursday’s races from Aqueduct!
