Saturday’s Race Recap from Fair Grounds:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Fair Grounds can be found here:

Fair Grounds:

Race 1: 1st@ 2.00/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 2: 7th@ 7.10/1

Race 3: 8th@ 1.00/1

Race 5: 1st@ 12.20/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 9: 5th@ 23.60/1

Race 11: 6th@ 25.60/1

Race 12: 6th@ 9.10/1

Our day began with a win as Belle Rebelle won off in convincing wire-to-wire fashion in Race 1. In Race 2, King Doodle didn’t live up to his turf breeding checking in 7th. In Race 3, heavily favored Sarape had the run of the race and no real excuse as she packed it in turning for home. In Race 5, Cosmic Train was taken far back off a fairly quick early pace for this group of Louisiana Bred runners and exploded in the lane given a brilliant inside ride by James Graham at 12/1. In Race 9, Happy American had no real excuse rallying from last but nobody was beating Olympiad today. In the Fair Grounds Oaks it was Echo Zulu prevailing by a nose. The running line for our selection - Bernabreezy reads: “Bernabreezy was severely hampered and lost all chance after being squarely knocked off balance by an inner foe at the start.” In the Louisiana Derby, Epicenter was taken back to stalk the pace for a chance and it didn’t look like anyone expected that move. It worked like a charm for that one as he was able to take the lead turning for home and draw off for an easy win with a track record performance. Call Me Midnight didn’t get enough pace to close into and never mounted a serious rally.

Two wins from 7 selections on this PROFITABLE day.

Let’s get to some Sunday races from Aqueduct. We’re expecting cloudy skies and chilly temperatures. Let’s get to work.

Sunday at Aqueduct:

Race 5: Baby Man - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 10/1)

Interesting little maiden race for three year old fillies sprinting 6 furlongs here. Chad Brown has two runners that will take money, Everyoneloveslinda has already finished second thrice in four starts with good efforts, Bill Mott looks like he’s got a live first time starter on the outside, so why do we like this rail horse with slow-looking works from Rudy Rodriguez’s barn? They’re known for claimers at Aqueduct. Well here’s what’s interesting – Baby Man sold for 30x her sire’s stud fee. Owner Mike Dubb uses trainer Rudy Rodriguez a lot and has had success with him. According to the writeup, Baby Man sold because she worked 21 1/5 at the OBS April sale. They pop an apprentice rider on her so she gets a 7 lb. weight break for a rider who’s winning at 22% for the barn. Maybe those recent workouts are meant to look slow by design. I have a feeling this one is going to come blasting outta the gates. Then we just have to hope she can hold off the closers. Value at 10/1 or higher.

Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Aqueduct!
