$725,000 Medaglia D'Oro colt Be There makes debut today at Oaklawn

The beautiful colt Be There, by Medaglia d’Oro and out of multiple graded stakes winner Tin Type Gal (by Tapit), makes his debut today in the 9th race at Oaklawn. The $90,000 Maiden Special race will be decided at six furlongs.

Trained by two time Derby and two time Belmont winner Nick Zito, he is owned by My Meadowview, LLC, and ridden by Kelsi Harr.

Be There will have quite a bit to overcome given his trainer is 0/58 with first timers over the past five years, his jockey is sporting a big goose egg in win percent, and ownership has not raced a horse since 2016.

2-Slim Man (3/1) appears to be the one to beat with a best last 98 Equibase score last out and a :48.4 and 1:01.6 works since his last. The $340,000 colt by Violence, 5-Mean Jakey (5/1) makes his three year old debut today after two uneventful shots at Churchill. I’ll use him underneath as he appears to need a race. 1-Improbable Journey (9/2) is third off the layoff and has scored solid Equibase numbers in his last two. He needs a jockey change before I bet him. 8-American Mayhem (8/1), a first time starter by Maclean’s Music and trained by James DiVito, has had an excellent work tab and will be a factor.

I am going with Slim Man to win with American Mayhem, Mean Jakey, and Be There for exotic bets.

Happy Hunting!
