Saturday’s Race Recap from around the US:
(All odds US)
Replays from Gulfstream Park & Tampa Bay Downs can be found below.
Gulfstream Park:
Race 3: 3rd@ 25.60/1
Race 4: SCRATCH
Race 7: 1st@ 1.20/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Race 9: 5th@ 6.20/1
In Race 3 we went with rank outsider More Glory at 25/1, who would be one of only a few to be running late in this mile race. She did just that and was actually moving best late, finishing a hard-charging third at long odds. These long-odds runners keep finishing second and third for us. We’re due for a few bombs on top. It poured rain right before Race 7, but when they finally opened the gates, Bramble Berry sprinted to a clear lead early. Obligatory was expertly ridden and moved a little earlier than usual giving her ample time to make her move for an easy win. In Race 9, we went with first timer Emirates Road, broke a little slowly but finished an even fifth.
Tampa Bay Downs:
Race 8: 5th@ 3.80/1
Race 10: 6th@ 2.30/1
Race 11: 6th@ 65.00/1
In Race 8, Wolfie’s Dynaghost made the early lead and gamely fought off challengers until mid-stretch when he was passed by a few Graded stakes types and faded to fifth. In Race 10, Kitten Mischief made his turf debut and was taken far off the pace by rider Manny Franco and rallied only mildly for sixth in a disappointing effort. In the Tampa Bay Derby, Spin Wheel was taken back to last early. The pace wasn’t as fast as I had hoped for and while Spin Wheel was motoring late he could do no better than 6th at long odds.
Aqueduct:
RACING CANCELLED
We’ll stay at Gulfstream and sprinkle in a few from Aqueduct for Sunday’s races. We expect fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies at Gulfstream and at Aqueduct we expect a muddy, drying out track in blustery conditions. Let’s get to it.
Sunday pick for Gulfstream Park:
Race 10: She’s So Beautiful - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 7/2)
Our probable favorite is Lara’s Lady and she breaks from the inside with Irad Ortiz but she’s had issues finishing her races and has already been beaten as the favorite in four of five starts she’s made as one. On top of that she should see some pace pressure from returnees Brimage and Pronta. That should set the table for She’s So Beautiful who scratched from a tougher race on Friday to await this. She looks like she should be able to sit the right trip off the speed duel. She’s the only three-time winner in the field and all three wins have come at Gulfstream along with a win at the distance. 7/2 looks like good value here.
Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Gulfstream Park & Aqueduct!
