Good morning Betting Gods Team! We are back to make money on a sunny Wednesday afternoon at Gulfstream Park where we expect fair skies along with a fast main track and a firm turf course. Let’s get started.
Wednesday pick for Gulfstream Park:
Race 2: Tolkien - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)
Maidens race a mile on turf and our three morning line favorites all come loaded with unproven potential on turf. Our 6/5 morning line favorite Deep State is bred to relish the turf and they’ve been trying to get him on the turf but he keeps getting rained off. He might end up being best as he’s a half brother to multiple Grade 1 turf star Heart to Heart, but his turf workouts don’t get the pulse racing and they named jockey Junior Alvarado to ride, who’s only winning at a 13% rate. Snow’s Island - our 3/1 second choice might also be very good as he’s bred to relish the turf but is coming off a 10 month layoff, getting blinkers on and was recently gelded. Our 7/2 third choice is a first time starter from a barn that has yet to hit the board with 6 starters at the meet so far with a rider who’s 0 for 36. So there’s reason to doubt our favorites at short odds so I’m taking a stab with the runner who actually owns the two top speed figures on turf in this field and that’s Tolkien. Tolkien has had his share of chances but he’s been facing tougher than most of these in his grass races. His two most recent starts have come on polytrack so his form looks a little more muddied up than it should. It’s rare you can get 20/1 odds on the runner with the highest speed figures for the surface but here we are!
Best of luck to everyone playing Wednesday’s races from Gulfstream Park!!
