Keeneland Wednesday: God's Tipster picks three races, hoping he's insightful on Inspeightful in the 1st

Other race picks are for the 7th and 8th.

Good morning racing fans. It’s Wednesday and while most people are in the midst of their work weeks we are just beginning ours! We’re going to take a look at some races from Keeneland where we expect mild conditions with a fast main track and a firm turf course. Let’s get started.

Wednesday picks for Keeneland:

Race 1: Inspeightful - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Our obsession with maiden claimers continues as we kick off our week with a mile and a sixteenth race for 3yos and up. These are the kinds of races where it’s worth taking a stab with a longshot every now and again and while it’s safe to say that there are no future Breeder’s Cup winners in this field, Inspeightful interests me here. She’s run three races and on Wednesday she’ll race at her lowest level to date. While she faces a full field, there’s not much early speed signed on. She finished 8th last time out after fading and stretches our further today but the runners she battled for the early lead with finished first and third respectively and the winner returned to win her next start. Trainer Lon Wiggins wins with 27% of his maiden claimers and with 2 of 6 runners stretching from sprint to route. This one also goes from one turn races to a two turn race. Worth a try at 12/1 or higher.

Race 7: Tipsy Gal - 1 pt win (Us Morning Line Odds: 4/1)

Allowance runners go 7 furlongs here and this is a race where only a few appear to be able to contend. Tipsy Gal is coming off a career best effort earned a few days shy of a month ago at Colonial Downs. She’s had four workouts since that start and reunites with jockey Brian Hernandez here - a rider who piloted her to a blowout score when she won back in March at the Fair Grounds. Her recent workouts have been 3 furlong blowouts so I’m expecting her to break fast from the gate and lead them early - hopefully from gate to wire. Her and Movie Moxy are really the only two with consistent numbers at this level. Trainer Dallas Stewart knows how to win here at Keeneland and these 4/1 morning line odds will likely be much lower at post time, so if you can lock ‘em in, the value is there.

Race 8: Already Charming - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)

Maiden runners go a mile and a sixteenth on turf and whenever you have the opportunity to get 5/2 odds on a runner with speed on the rail in a pace-less race who’s ridden by the field’s best rider and trained by the field’s top trainer, I encourage you to do so. That’s the story in a nutshell for Already Charming, who ran a game third first time out after contending for early supremacy. This one only lost on debut by 1/2 length. Next time out she was fractious in the gate and never looked comfortable finishing last of 9. We see no warning-sign drops to maiden claiming company after that effort, so I’m putting a line through that race and moving forward with a runner who’s likely to go off at under 2/1 odds.

Best of luck to everyone playing Wednesday’s races from Keeneland!
