2021 Breeders' Cup Classic Week 15 Rankings: Essential Quality Tops Poll

The $6 million race takes place Nov. 6 at beautiful Del Mar.

The road to the 2021 Breeders' Cup Classic is close at hand as it happens more than two weeks from now. The Breeders' Cup will saddle at Del Mar Nov. 5-6, highlighting 15 horse racing categories. With this, fans can anticipate the most accomplished thoroughbreds as well as trainers and jockeys gracing the event.

Of these great races, the Breeders' Cup Classic is the main event, with a massive $6 million prize pool. Besides, it is bound to be a thrilling race as all horses who won this year's most prestigious racing events will go head to head.

After he finished 4th at the Kentucky Derby, he swept the Belmont Stakes, Jim Dandy Stakes, and Travers Stakes. Essential Quality is a son of Tapit and is trained by Brad Cox.

Knicks Go

After winning the Lukas Classic Stakes Oct. 2 at Churchill Downs, Knicks Go forged ahead to the second spot. He is the stablemate of Essential Quality as they are both trained by Brad Cox. This year, his other achievements include wins in the Cornhusker Handicap, Whitney Stakes, and the Pegasus World Cup Invitational Stakes.

Hot Rod Charlie

Doug O'Neill's Hot Rod Charlie occupies the third rank after winning the Pennsylvania Derby Sept. 25. Apart from that, he also conquered the field at the Louisiana Derby held last March. His notable placements this year are from Belmont Stakes (2nd), Haskell Stakes (7th), Robert B. Lewis Stakes (3rd), and Kentucky Derby (3rd).

Medina Spirit

Fresh off a victory in the Shared Belief Stakes Aug. 9, Medina Spirit secured another win from Awesome Again Stakes Oct. 2. That said, he took over the 4th spot in this week's odds ranking. Medina Spirit is an entry by Bob Baffert, who also won the Kentucky Derby held last May at Churchill Downs.

Maxfield

Maxfield took one step back from his previous ranking after landing in second place during October’s Woodward Stakes. As a result, he takes fifth place in the current odds ranking. He is an entry from trainer Brendan Walsh, who also helped this racehorse obtain significant placements in the Stephen Foster Stakes (1st), Santa Anita Handicap (3rd), and Alysheba Stakes (1st).

Art Collector

After winning the Woodward Stakes, Art Collector has entered the Breeders' Cup Classic odds at the 6th spot. He is an entry from William Mott and was sired by Bernardini. Looking into his form, Art Collector won the Charles Town Classic Stakes and Alydar Stakes.

Max Player

Max Player, winner of the Suburban and Jockey Gold Cup, occupies the 7th rank this week. He was sired by Honor Code, will be ridden by Ricardo Santana Jr. and trained by Steve Asmussen. His other notable achievements include 11th place at the Saudi Cup and 6th place at the Special Match Series.

Letruska

Inching two places up in this weeks' odds ranking, Letruska is another horse to beat in the upcoming Breeders' Cup. A few days ago, he won the Juddmonte Spinster Stakes, which made his form stronger. Before winning this, he was undefeated in his last four races – the Fleur de Lis, Ogden Phipps, Personal Ensign, and Apple Blossom Handicap. Although ranked for the Classic, Letruska is likely to run in a different Breeders' Cup race.

Mishriff

Taking 9th place in today's Breeders' Cup Classic ranking is Mishriff. On Aug. 18, he ran in the Juddmonte International Stakes and brought home the title. Aside from this, he also had significant finishes in the Saudi Cup (1st), Coral-Eclipse Stakes (3rd), King George VI and Queen Elizabeth QIPCO Stakes (2nd), and Dubai Sheema Classic (1st ).

Dr Post

Rounding up this week's Breeders' Cup Classic odds ranking is Todd Pletcher's Dr Post. He recently finished third in the Woodward a few days ago, which led to his current ranking. Dr Post is a current winner of the Westchester Stakes and Monmouth Cup Stakes.
