Thursday’s Recap from Gulfstream Park:
(All odds US)
Race 2: 6th@ 24.10/1
Race replay:
Race 8: 3rd@ 25.60/1
Race replay:
In Race 2, our first time starter Dignified broke well and was in good position until the turn when he began to fade. He’ll be better suited with a race under his belt. After some typical Florida weather (a massive midday thunderstorm), Race 8 was rained off the turf which spelled doom for Happy Loudon whom we handicapped for turf. Her only dirt start was a disaster and today she ran much better juuuust getting caught for second at long odds.
We’ll look ahead to Friday’s races at Gulfstream Park and will continue to tread lightly as we move on from Saratoga racing to Florida racing. Yesterday we gave out two longshots and today we’ve got two lower-priced horses. We didn’t handicap any grass races in the event we get rained off again. We expect warm temperatures with fast and firm track conditions. Let’s get to the action!
Friday picks for Gulfstream Park:
Race 2: Financial System - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 8/5)
Claimers race 7 furlongs here and while our selection’s best races have come on turf, he’s got the strongest, recent main track races by far - most recently winning an off the turf event at this same track and distance by more than ten lengths. 19% barn with a 19% rider says 8/5 looks like good value on this runner.

Race 8: Khozy My Boy - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 3/1)
Claimers race a flat mile here and on the surface, our selection looks a bit suspect. One for 23 lifetime record with 9 second place finishes shows a bit of a willingness to lose however when we dig a bit deeper we see that his best speed figure at this distance (two races back) TOWERS over the rest of the field. He’s spent most of his career this far, sprinting and I think he’s best suited to a mile. Runner steps up in class and has been working well. Attracts 22% rider.
Best of luck to everyone playing Friday’s races from Gulfstream Park!
