Saratoga:
Race 1: 1st@ 3.55/1🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Race 3: 1st@ 0.15/1🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Race 4: 3rd@ 5.60/1
Race 9: 2nd@ 8.50/1
It’s always nice to start the week off on a winning note and that’s exactly what happened with Point of Humor winning Race 1 in gate to wire fashion at an overlaid 7/2 here in the U.S. In Race 3, heavily favored Pocket Square ran to her form and powered away to a convincing score. In Race 4, Shasta Star ran her eyeballs out and almost gave us three in a row but the extra 1/2 furlong was a bit too much and she finished third. In Race 9, Ry’s the Guy battled gamely to the wire at 8.50/1 falling just short by 1/2 length. Two wins a second and a third place finish from four picks today.
Sunny skies with fast and firm conditions are expected once again for Thursday. Let’s get the party started!
Thursday picks for Saratoga:
Race 3: Win Worthy - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Maidens race 1 3/16 miles on the lawn here and the betting public’s eyes will probably be drawn to Orchestration who made a strong move late into a race with very little pace in his debut down at Ellis Park. I’m siding with a more experienced runner in Win Worthy who runs for the razor sharp Joe Sharp barn that’s winning at 26% right now and for the meet’s leading rider in Luis Saez who swept the early double on Wednesday’s card. There’s not an overabundance of speed here and if Win Worthy can get a little daylight early he may be tough to reel in late.
Race 5: Keepcalmcarryon - 2 pts win - BEST BET
Two-year-olds race a rare mile and an eighth for this time of year and in case you‘ve been living under a rock, trainer Todd Pletcher has been on fire 🔥 with his 2yos at the Saratoga meet. First time out, this runner ran 2nd to subsequent blowout stakes winner Wit (also trained by Pletcher). Second time out he ran into a buzzsaw named Stellar Tap and finished second. Bred to relish a distance of ground and this runner should be primed for his best today.

Race 7: No Salt - 1 pt win (Us Morning Line Odds: 30/1)
We’re taking a swing with a longshot here. This is a turf race devoid of much early speed and No Salt has shown speed in the last and his best races have come from being put in the lead. From a class standpoint it might be a little bit of a stretch, but we’ve seen longshots get to the front on this inner turf course for years and not get run down. This runner has a win and a second place finish over the course and his career best speed figure at this distance. Interesting price play.
Race 8: Easy to Bless - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)
Sprinters race 7/8 of a mile here and typically when I look at sprint races my first step involves identifying the controlling speed. Without a tremendous amount of pace, Easy to Bless may have things her own way up front. Low profile connections will keep this one’s odds fair but this miss fits right with the best of these and if left on a clear lead may be long gone.
Best of luck to everyone playing Thursday’s races from Saratoga!!
