Tough day after two of our picks scratched leaving us with 4 runners. Robin Sparkles shot to the lead in Race 3 but wasn’t good enough to hold off the closers. In Race 4 Maria’s Gift wasn’t up to the task fading in the stretch after stalking the pace. Lovestruck didn’t seem to handle the boggy turf lagging behind a slow early pace and Crazy Beautiful was never involved in the Alabama. Favorites won almost all day today so that always makes it tough to win.
We look to close out the week with a few winners at Saratoga. We expect fast and firm conditions beneath cloudy skies but there’s a 50/50 chance of rain so we won’t know til tomorrow what the weather is like. Let’s get to work!
Sunday picks for Saratoga:
Race 1: Goddess of Fire - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 3/1)
Two-year-old fillies sprint here and there are a few well bred first timers going, but Goddess of Fire hails from the red hot barn of Todd Pletcher - straight off a win in the Alabama Stakes with Malathaat and two maiden wins with first time starters on Saturday. Respect everything from this barn right now.
Race 3: Bronzed - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Claimers sprint here and our selection is coming off a year layoff for a barn that wins at 21% with runners like these. This one is owned by Michael Dubb who seems to be able to work miracles with horses coming off layoffs. He had been running in stakes company and drops to the lowest level of his career. Looking for a wire to wire score.

Race 10: Leading West - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
This runner is strong whether this race is on turf or on dirt. If we are rained off the turf, this runner has the highest speed figure on the main track in the field. If the race stays on turf, Leading West has the second highest speed figure in the field. Trainer wins 23% overall for top connections and wins 24% second time off a layoff. 6/1 looks like great value here.
