God's Tipster's four Friday Saratoga race picks include the Tale of the Cat Stakes

Saratoga:

Race 3: 5th@ 1.50/1

Race 4: 3rd@ 1.00/1

Race 8: 6th@ 9.30/1

Simply Ravishing was beaten to the lead in Race 3 and once that happened it was all over for her chances. In Race 4, Spungie was oddly taken off the pace and was then unable to run down the loose early leader. Certainly not the ride her backers were expecting. In Race 8, Mojovation didn’t make the lead and backed up in the lane.

Looking ahead to Friday’s races at Saratoga. We’re expecting warm temperatures once again with possible thunderstorms. We’re handicapping for fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work!

Friday picks for Saratoga:

Race 3: Wicked Happy - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Maiden claimers run a mile and a sixteenth on turf and this turf course has favored speed and there isn’t very much of that signed on here. Wicked Happy appears to be the controlling speed from the inside without much pace pressure. Low profile connections ensure a big price. This runner has finished in the top 3 eleven times in 17 starts. At 12/1 she’s worth a long look.

Race 4: Trash Talker - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Sprinters race 6 furlongs here and Trash Talker looks like he might be the speed of the speed. This runner comes off a trainer change to Linda Rice (19% first off the claim) from trainer Cathal Lynch (7%) and picks up top rider Irad Ortiz. Trash Talker has a win at this distance in which he produced his top lifetime speed figure. 8/1 Odds would offer some nice value here.

Race 9: Bon Raison - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Sprinters square off in the Tale of the Cat Stakes and the 4, 5 and 6 runners all have blazing early speed which should set up well for Bon Raison’s closing kick. His form is a bit muddied up but three starts back he ran in the Breeder’s Cup Sprint and two starts ago he ran in the Cigar Mile - both Grade 1 races. Faces no world beaters here, he’s got a GREAT record here at Saratoga and has run his career top race here at this distance. Bon Raison trainer Jack Sisterson won the Grade 1 Vanderbilt Stakes with Lexitonian at long odds.

Race 10: Joey Loose Lips - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 2/1)

Claimers sprint 7 furlongs here and Joey Loose Lips hails from the barn of Michelle Giangiulio, who got her very first win as a trainer in a Stakes race on Wednesday. Joey Loose Lips appears to have a decided pace advantage with speed from the inside and will be cutting back from 1 1/8th miles in a race he lost to Bingo John, who returned to run well next out. Anything close to 2/1 here is good value.
