God's Tipster's Wednesday Saratoga picks are for the 5th, 6th, 9th and 10th and feature a 30-1 longshot

Hello racing fans, it’s Godstipster - your US Racing Expert back again for FourstarDave week. For the uninitiated, FourstarDave was a Saratoga legend from the 1990’s and now has an important turf race named after him that will be run this Saturday. Here’s an article for anyone interested in learning about FourstarDave:

For Wednesday’s races at Saratoga we’ve got some light rain expected overnight but are still expecting fast and firm track conditions. Let’s get started:

Race 5: My Brother Neil - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 10/1)

NY bred maidens kick off our week running a mile and an eighth on the main track and Blitz to Win is likely to attract the lion’s share of the attention. He’s got an advantage when it comes to speed figures and that means a lot but he’s never been this far and hasn’t exactly shown us that he’s worth taking 6/5 on so I’m taking a chance with My Brother Neil. Based on breeding he looks like he should run all day and his two races this year have been against turf company (a surface he’s not bred for) and against open company runners at Monmouth. Low profile trainer gets the meet’s leading rider to land here. Am looking for him to take a serious run at the heavy favorite in the lane.

Race 6: Shining Colors - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)

Maiden claimers square off here and Ms. Penelopepitstop is our morning line favorite after a speedy first race at Monmouth where she faded in the lane. While she may prove tough to run down with added blinkers, the presence of the speedy Madame Rose on the inside makes me want to look elsewhere for a runner to stalk and close. Shining Colors offers value at 5/1 odds. This runner has finished either 2nd or 3rd 6 of 7 times and has a bullet workout for new connections coming into this race.

Race 9: Into the Sunrise - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 7/2)

Turf sprinters race in today’s feature event and Wesley Ward excels with his turf sprinters. Overall he wins at a 25% clip with them and this one attracts the services of top rider Irad Ortiz and breaks from the rail which is a major advantage in races like these. As long as he breaks well I think they’ll have a tough time reeling this one in.

Race 10: Spiritual King - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 30/1)

It’s BOMBS AWAY to end the day! Spiritual King is the speed nearest the rail on the inner turf and that can be a deadly combination on this course. He’s finished 2nd twice (once by DQ) and has low profile connections. With the quality of this field lacking if they allow this runner a free pass on the lead it could be a long afternoon for everyone trying to run him down.
