Recap:
@DelMarRacing
Race 1 - August 1
#3 Forest Caraway (5-1 ML)
@jjhernandezS19 sat the mare right off the pace beautifully and she cruised home with a perfect trip going away to win by 3 1/2 furlongs. The Peter Miller trainee paid $13.40 to win and kicked off a great day of racing for myself and our readers.
Thanks to @bettorsinsider for the retweet and props. Tip the cap to my boy, @godstipster, for throwing coin down on the selection. Below are TWO plays for today's Del Mar card with TWO reasons per play.
Play 1
Race 4 - Clm 8000(8-7) - 1 Mile - 3 YO ^
#1 Studly Perfection (6-1)
1. With an early pace advantage, jockey Jose Valdivia will be able to jog the first quarter of the mile without having to work for it. If this plays out energy can be conserved, while slowing down early fractions to save gas for the trip home.
2. This is a cheap race therefore my return needs to be solid, 6-1 to me is solid. With it being a $8k claiming race my edge is point 1, now my hopes will be to actually get 6-1 and the envisioned trip.
Play 2
Race 7 - S - F - CTBA-B100k - 5 1/2 F - 2 YO
#6 Irish Wahine (20-1)
1. A long shot play which looks to have no chance on paper but in my eyes does. Distance will help, a 1/2 F may not come off as a huge deal. With the contentious speed in the race the added 1/2 panel will be handy for a possible close.
2. Development, being green, endless potential. Each is descriptive of my approach to betting the babies. Even though it is later in the season you still may get the unexpected pop or maturity which leads to a higher #.
Until next time this is Two Play Mike signing off.
