Thursday at Saratoga: The forecast is for rain so God's Tipster has three picks for off tracks
Wednesday’s Recap from Saratoga:
(All odds US)
Race replays from Saratoga can be found here:
Race 5: 8th@ 2.50/1
Race 7: 2nd@ 0.55/1
Race 10: 2nd@ 2.55/1
Always frustrating to run second when you’re betting to win and we did that twice today. In Race 5, Raw Courage seemed like he wanted shorter and faded in the lane. In Races 7 and 10, Tamahere and Prayer Book had similar trips where they chased loose-on-the-lead front runners and weren’t able to reel them in.
Onward and upward to Thursday’s Saratoga card. There is rain in the forecast so I’m handicapping accordingly. Here are my selections for Thursday’s races from Saratoga:
Thursday picks for Saratoga:
Race 1: Johnnypump - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)
Maiden claimers kick us off and with the off track expected, I went with a runner with proven off-track form. Johnnypump hails from the 23% barn of Mike Maker with Luis Saez aboard. This runner is going turf to dirt and getting blinkers on which should accentuate his speed. Looking for him to speed - pop them in the opener.

Race 5: Shinjuku - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)
More maiden claimers line up - this time to sprint and Shinjuku appears to have this field over a barrel. His main track speed figures stand out against the rest of these and he hails from a lower profile barn than most favorites typically come from so he may not be bet as hard as he should. Tough to deny.
Race 10: Bonkers - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)
We finish up with our third of three maiden claiming events and this one is carded for turf but will likely get rained off. Bonkers has the highest main track speed figure and is bred to handle an off track. She hails from the 23% winning barn of Mike Maker and has had good recent form on turf as well in the event we don’t get rained off.
Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀 to everyone playing Thursday’s races from Saratoga.
