Welcome back for another outstanding week of exciting racing action from Saratoga. There’s a 50/50 chance of rain in the forecast for Wednesday’s races so we’ve handicapped accordingly.

Let’s get to work:

Wednesday picks for Saratoga:

Race 2: Larceny - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Looking to get the week started with a BOMB. This runner’s form is a bit muddied ho from his four recent turf races - a surface he’s only modestly bred for. Prior to that he was running races on dirt that would line him up with the best of the runners in here. With several suspect favorites in here all preferring to show early speed, Larceny may get the right pace setup for a runner who’s likely to be overlooked in the wagering.

Race 4: Ready A.P. - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 9/5)

We’ve got a 6 furlong sprint stakes race here for NY bred 2-year-olds and we’re picking the filly to upset the boys here. Ready A.P. had a slow start and still managed to blow the doors off the field in her debut. Trainer Christophe Clement wins with 26% of his two year olds and this one made her debut with a lot of fanfare. Beat her to cash.

Race 5: Madame Rose - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

Tricky looking race where we’ve got a 3/5 morning line favorite that has lost her last three starts as favorite. No thanks. Madame Rose comes from modest connections so the price will be high. She comes off a lifetime best performance last time out and appears to have the best early speed of these. She’ll have to navigate 7 furlongs but if she can sneak away early there may not be anyone good enough to reel her in late.

Race 10: Damilano - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

With rain in the forecast there’s a good chance this race comes off the turf and if it does, Damilano has the best dirt form by roughly 12 speed figure points over his next closest opponent. Trainer James Bond has begun his Saratoga meet going 2 for 4 and jockey Luis Saez wins an incredible 34% of starts for this barn. Most recent start was his best race by a mile. I’m thinking this one finally turned the corner.

Best of luck to all our members playing Wednesday’s races from beautiful Saratoga !
