Good morning Racing fans. We’re kicking off another week of racing with some Wednesday races from Delaware Park where there is a 30% chance of afternoon thunderstorms. I’ll be handicapping for a fast track but keep an eye on the sky.
Let’s get to work!
Delaware Park:
Race 2: Helen Marie - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)
Maiden special wt runners race 1 mile and 70 yards and our favorite - Above the Limit is coming out from two disappointing efforts where she was odds on favorite and couldn’t hold on in the lane after speeding off early. Now she stretches to a longer distance and although not terribly bred for it, nothing she’s done makes me confident she’ll handle the stretch. Helen Marie comes off a November layoff for trainer Michael Stidham who’s winning at 16% on the year. She sheds blinkers and adds Lasix for her new trainer. In the only dirt start of her career she ran 5th after breaking slowly - not a bad effort considering the third place finisher came back to win a stakes in her next start and the second place runner and winner were stakes placed in their next starts.

Race 3: Mumbai - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 8/5)
Turf sprinters race in this allowance race for fillies and mares and not only does Mumbai possess the best early speed of this bunch, her overall speed figures are tops in the field and her jockey and trainer also lay over this field based on win percentages overall. If she repeats her most recent start she should be long gone.
Race 8: Crystal Ball - 1 pt win (US MORNING LINE ODDS: 5/1)
We’ve got the Obeah Stakes - stakes action is pretty rare for a Wednesday but Crystal Ball rules this field based on speed numbers. She’s got plenty of early speed and will be near the rail as she runs for trainer Rudy Brisett for the first time. When this trainer races horses for the Winstar Stables (this horse’s ownership group) he wins at a ridiculous 42% rate (13 for 31) over the last 5 years. She’s 2 for 2 at this distance and has won 3 of 6 races lifetime.
Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀to all our members playing races from Delaware Park on Wednesday.
