Thursday at the Track: After a bad beat at Keeneland, God's Tipster returns to Gulfstream Park for races 7 & 8

Weather should be warm and sunny, conditions fast.

Wednesday’s Recap from Keeneland:

Race 1: 2nd@ 4-1 (US)

Replay here.

Race 5: SCRATCH

A frustrating loss today by our BEST BET - Dramatizer - who looked like she’d win by 10 turning for home once the 1/5 shot we HATED started backing up through the field. She just could not get by the pace setter. Granted, these runners aren’t the highest quality race horse. Maybe the fact that Dramatizer was closer to the early pace than she had ever been came into play. Maybe the muddy track gave the rail horse a bit of an advantage but our horse went into this race with a 28 point speed figure edge over the eventual winner based on prior performances. She’s not supposed to lose that race no matter how you look at it. Those kinds of losses are extremely rare and frustrating when you’re on the losing end of them.

Undaunted, we move ahead to Gulfstream Park’s Thursday card where we shouldn’t have to deal with rain or mud. We expect sunny skies and 80 degree weather. Let’s get to work!

Thursday Picks

Gulfstream Park:

Race 7: Dropped Anchor - 2 pts win - BEST BET

6 of the 7 runners in today’s 7th faced one another last time out. This makes it easy to separate the contenders from the pretenders. Dropped Anchor has improved his speed figures in his last 5 races so we like that momentum and he likes the track and distance. Dropped Anchor set the pace last time out and I foresee him doing that today.

Race 8: Inter Miami - 1 pt win

More turf sprinters square off here and Inter Miami looks like the fastest of the fast. He’s only run one turf sprint in his career but is bred to handle it. His trainer, Georgina Baxter, wins with 26% of layoff runners like these and 25% of her turf sprinters. This jockey / trainer combo wins 26% and this runner is unlikely to take a lot of money as he hasn’t yet won on turf.

A quick note. Members may notice that we will be scaling back on tips a bit. No, it doesn’t mean we’re slacking. Quite the contrary. In an effort to provide our members with the best possible service, we will be focusing our attention on the quality of selections rather than quantity. Our BEST BETS have been running particularly well so you may see an added emphasis on these. On weekends where we generally make more selections, we haven’t fared as well. This has led to some reflection and this change is needed. During weekdays, we will limit selections to 3 and on weekends we will limit to 5. On days where we see no race worth betting on, we will tell you so. This will ensure our members are truly getting the best selections we have to offer and not just “action”. Thank you for your continued patronage. The best is yet to come.

Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀 to all our members playing races from Keeneland on Thursday!
