Fear the Deer ran his race but Dramatic Kitten benefitted from a picture perfect Hector Berrios ride to steal Race 5. We scratched out of Races 8 and 10.
Good morning racing fans. We are 17 days away from the Kentucky Derby and it’s looking like it’s setting up to be an exciting race. In the meantime we’ve handicapped Keeneland’s Wednesday card and have come up with two selections. We have a 40% chance of rain in the morning so keep an eye on the sky.

Keeneland:
Race 1: Dramatizer - 2 pts win - BEST BET
Fillies line up to run a mile and a sixteenth in this claiming event which kicks off the week. Our 4/5 morning line favorite is Sunny Isle Beach who ships in from Gulfstream Park and drops in class. She should face company on the front end and has never been two turns so I’d rather look elsewhere. Dramatizer hails from lower profile connections but appears to have a better setup here as she prefers to close from off the pace. Her three most recent starts have all been on turf but her only route race on dirt produced a speed figure that’s 7 points higher than anyone in this field has ever run. She appears to have both a class edge and a pace edge making her our day’s BEST BET.

Race 5: Elke Do Jaguarete - 1 pt win
Fillies and mares square off on turf and we like a longshot here. Trainer Ignacio Correas is a low profile trainer who knows how to win at a big price and he doesn’t typically put horses where they don’t belong. Over the last 2 years at Keeneland in allowance races on turf where he’s used today’s jockey, James Graham, he’s won with 2 of 5 runners for a 40% win percentage and an 80% in the money percentage with an average payoff of $16.40. This one is 30-1 morning line and offers nice value at those odds.
