Thursday’s Recap from Gulfstream Park:

Race 3: 1st@ 4.30-1 (US) / 10/3 SP Odds 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 4: 2nd@ 1.00-1 (US)

Race 5: 4th@ 2.00-1 (US)

Race 7: 4th@ 4.80-1 (US)

Race 8: 1st@ 1.50-1 (US) 🔥🔥🔥🔥

(Fast-forward to the 18:00 mark for Race 8)

Another day and another winning BEST BET. Here in the States, Comiskey Park offered tremendous value at 4.30-1 winning off by 10 gate to wire just like we forecasted. In Race 4, Honey Pants needed a bit more to run down Por Que No who was aided by the speed favoring nature of this turf course. In Race 5, our selection - Gun of Glory got stuck behind tiring horses turning for home and never recovered. In Race 7, our selection - Fuego Caliente got a great ride from Paco Lopez and had no excuse for not winning today. I’m officially divorcing Fuego Caliente effective April 8, 2021. We closed out the day with another win when Kahiko ran away with Race 8 after stalking a moderate pace.

We’re staying at Gulfstream Park for a pair of races on Friday’s card where once again we expect fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies. Then we’re heading to Keeneland for two races.

Let’s get to work:

Friday Picks

Gulfstream Park:

Race 1: Gunman - 2 pts win - BEST BET (ML Odds: 7/5)

Look at us! Going with a favorite as our best bet. What a chalk-eating rat! Well, as most of you know too well now, we don’t go with favorites unless we really like them and this one offers value at 7/5 or better. Trainer Mike Maker wins at 24% with jockey Edgard Zara’s from 94 starters and wins with 19% of his turf sprinters. This ones been routing mostly but has good speed and drops to the lowest level of his career. Doesn’t face much in here and looks to have them from both a class and pace perspective.

Race 7: Super Strong - 1 pt win (ML Odds: 9/2)

Allowance runners line up to race 7 Furlongs and 5 of the 6 runners in here are dropping out of stakes competition. Two are dropping from the Grade 2 Tampa Bay Derby and one of those is Super Strong who finished 10th in that race after racing on the inside. Rumor has it the inside was deep that day from rain the night before and the fact that trainer Saffie Joseph felt so good about this horse’s maiden win in Puerto Rico that he’d ship up for the Tampa Bay Derby tells us all we need to know. Saffie Joseph is a shrewd trainer and this runner feels live. No panicky drops into claiming company. Joseph wins with 30% of his route to sprinters and he’s currently won 3 of 7 on the meet.

Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀 to all our members playing races from Gulfstream Park and Keeneland!
