Saturday’s Recap from Santa Anita:

Race 8: 4th@ 7.00-1

When we do well, I’m the first to pat myself on the back. When we lose I’m the first to admit it, and we got our asses handed to us on Saturday. We’re a service that generally doesn’t like to pick many favorites but favorites ruled the day for the most part. One favorite we did pick was Essential Quality who won the Blue Grass as our BEST BET. In races 1, 6, 8 and 9 from Aqueduct and race 9 from Keeneland, the winning odds were: 6/5, 4/5, 8/5, 2/5 and 3/5. Tough to make money that way. Bourbonic won the Wood Memorial at odds of 72-1. Some say hindsight is 20/20 but even with hindsight, that was a tough one to flush out.

Moving on to our Easter Sunday race card from Gulfstream Park. We expect sunny skies and mild temperatures with a fast main track and a firm turf course. Let’s get to work:

Easter Sunday Picks

Gulfstream Park:

Race 1: Marsac - 3 pts win - BEST BET

Maiden claimers kick things off running on turf and barring anything unforeseen, Marsac should have this field over a barrel. He’s listed at 6/5 morning line and those odds would be considered very generous. Marsac’s most recent speed figure on turf is no fewer than 22 points ahead of his next closest competitor. He also owns the field's second best speed figure which is 20 points ahead of the next closest competitor. Third place runner in last came back to win. We don’t love favorites unless they look strong. This one looks awfully tough.

Race 5: Maxi Moon - 1 pt win

Maiden claimers run a mile here and our selection, Maxi Moon, has only run one time. That race was awful but it was on turf - a surface he’s not bred for. His breeding does however suggest that distance should be no problem and he’s been working well in the mornings. Has a nice blowout on March 21 showing. Trainer wins with 20% of runners making their second start and with 22% of his turf to dirt runners. Bombs away at 20-1!!

Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀 to all our members playing races from Gulfstream Park on Sunday !!
