Saturday Horse Racing at the Fair Grounds: God's Tipster picks races 12, 13, and 14 – the Louisiana Derby

Will Mandaloun punch his Kentucky Derby ticket with a win in this important prep race?

Friday’s recap from Gulfstream Park:

Race 1: 1st@ 4-1 - BEST BET 🔥🔥🔥

Race 2: 3rd@ 6.50-1

Race 3: 1st@ 0.80-1 - 2 PT BET 🔥🔥🔥

Race 4: 4th@ 12.80-1

Friday’s recap from Aqueduct:

Race 7: 1st@ 2.25-1 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Scroll to Race 7 here.

We started the day with our BEST BET of the day - Quinto Sol - going off at a generous 4-1 and winning easily. In Race 2, our selection, Mystic Comin Home didn’t break fast enough which is bad news when you’re on the rail and ended up closing late to grab 2nd at good odds. We continued our winning ways in Race 3 when Exact went off at 4/5 and won like a 1/9 shot winning gate-to-wire. I was disappointed with the ride we got in Race 4 when Robby Abarado gave Drop Anchor no chance, rallying from off the pace. Maybe he wasn’t winning but he was EASILY 2nd best in that field. Over at Aqueduct, we liked one horse all day and that was Civil War who was 7/2 in the wagering as they loaded into the gates and was bet down to 2-1 in the final minute. Must be all those BettingGods USRacingExpert followers watering down the pool 😉😏. Civil War won easily, rallying to win by +3 lengths.

Saturday Picks:

Saturday is Louisiana Derby day from the Fair Grounds. The Louisiana Derby is our first MAJOR Kentucky Derby prep for the year. Over the next few weeks we’ll see the rest. We expect overcast skies and chilly temperatures at the Fair Grounds.

We’ll also be taking a look at a few races from Gulfstream Park where there’s a chance of AM showers but we’re expecting fast and firm conditions.

Fair Grounds:

Race 12: Factor This - 1 pt win

All eyes will be on Colonel Liam after his breakout performance in the Pegasus Turf last time out but the 99 speed figure he put up that day isn’t likely going to get it done today. Especially with different pace dynamics at play, shipping to a new track and probable odds of around 9/5 make him a tough bet. Factor This, on the other hand, has won 2 of 4 races here at the fairgrounds and has put up MULTIPLE races with triple digit speed figures at this track and distance. Additionally, when they take the rails down on the turf course at the Fair Grounds, many times the turf course favors speed. Factor This is the speed nearest the inside and at potential odds of 7/2 or 4-1 I think he will be very tough to run down for the powerhouse team of Brad Cox and Shawn Bridgemohan who connect at 31% together.

Race 13: Clairiere - 2 pts win

Tough race. There are 4 here that I think can win it. I was impressed with Clariere’s most recent start where she ran down Travel Column who had kind of an easy time of it up front. I’ve never felt like Travel Column was a classic stayer and that opinion hasn’t changed but I did like the way Clariere imposed her will on Travel Column last out as she gradually pulled away. Top connections never hurt.

Race 14: Mandaloun - 2 pts win - BEST BET

Not exactly going out on a limb here but Mandaloun is the favorite and the likeliest winner of the Louisiana Derby. Proxy and Midnight Bourbon had every chance to run him down last time out and they simply couldn’t. I don’t see that changing today and I don’t think any of the new shooters are major contenders here.

Best of luck 🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀🍀to all our members playing races from Gulfstream Park and Fair Grounds on Saturday.
