Well well well... We were OVERDUE for a big day and sometimes a change of scenery can snap us out of a funk. We had a TREMENDOUS day giving out:
We kicked the day off with a wire-to-wire score by Last Judgement at 5-1 and followed it up with a gritty win by Search Results in Aqueduct’s Busher Stakes at 4.50-1 as our day’s BEST BET. We hit our third in a row when Micheline won the Hillsborough at 5.50-1 at Tampa and missed winning 4 in a row by a lip in the Gotham when Weyburn juiuuust got up to nip Crowded Trade. King of Dreams gave us a good run for a 29-1 shot in the Tampa Bay Derby but could only salvage a 5th place finish. We closed things out on the west coast as Life is Good lived up to the hype and left our selection Medina Spirit a distant 2nd. We closed the day with a nice win in the Grade 1 Santa Anita Handicap on Idol at 7-1. Throughout the day I heard from MANY followers through various social media points and I just wanted to give a note of thanks. We hit a bit of a rough patch for a few days there but it’s nice to see so many members kept the faith and were rewarded handsomely.
We look to keep the momentum going with Sunday’s race card from Aqueduct which will be run on a fast main track in frigid conditions. Let’s get to work:

Race 2: Mani Pedi - 1 pt win
Claiming filly and mare sprinters square off here and in this field of 6 runners, 5 of them like to be on or near the lead. Mani Pedi prefers to run from off the pace but that’s only part of the reason we like her so much. She’s also got the highest last race speed figure by a full 8 points and has shown more consistency than any of the runners here posting speed figures of 60 and above in 3 of her last 4 starts. Cutback in distance should help accentuate her closing kick.
Race 5: Hammerin Aamer - 1 pt win
Lower-level claimers knock heads at a mile and our likely favorite- It’s All Relevant, who seems to need the lead to win isn’t likely to outrun Big Mountain to the lead. Add in some more pace from Beach Access and you’ve got yourself a speed duel. Hammerin Aamer hadn’t won a race since last June before taking his most recent start stalking a slow pace and still having enough closing kick to win. We thinks he gets a similar setup today.
Race 8: Winners Laugh - 1 pt win
First time starter from the barn of Horacio DePaz and this team knows how to win early with runners. This one’s dam - Bridgehampton won in her first main track start and won two of her first three starts on dirt. He’s a half to Amundson who broke his maiden by 10 1/2 lengths in his second start with a speed figure of 75. Workouts seem to indicate there’s some class here and low profile barn should ensure a fair price.
