Sunday at the track: RT goes to Gulfstream Park for 3 races and a slew of extras elsewhere

First picked race, the 1st at Gulfstream Park, has a post time of 12:40 pm ET

Happy Valentines Day 😊

Races at Gulfstream today. The track should be dry, fast and the weather gorgeous.

Breeze Fig’s courtesy of Data Track International http://www.biodatatrack.com/

BreezeFigs are calculated separately for colts and fillies, and for each breeze distance (one eighth, a quarter mile, three-eighths, sometimes half a mile) and surface (dirt, synthetic, turf) for each sex.

There are four Groups:

G1: Horses qualifying on all Speed, Stride Length and other proprietary numbers;

G2: Horses qualifying on all but one of the above factors;

G3: Horses that qualify on one of the above factors;

G4: Horses that are non-qualifiers on any of the above factors

Gulfstream Park Race 1 – 50K MSW

3yo fillies going 8.25f on turf

A regular who’s who of trainers in this as Shug, Pletcher, Chad, McPeek, Saffie, Motion, Clemente and DeVaux all have entries.

#6 Perhaps Tonight (10/1). Sir Prancealot filly bred in Ireland and had one race at Kempton in July going six furlongs on yielding turf, which by US turf racing standards would have not been run. Gets 1st Lasix today and albeit her works have been pedestrian, this lady can be a factor. # 10 Champagne Ivy (4/1) raced a month ago with 1st Lasix and chased Jouster, who returned a week ago to wire $75K aoc grade types. A key race in the making? She will take on the same distance today with Zayas in the irons. Saffie/Zayas a 29% prop. Getting 10/1 on #7 Baffle ‘Em is a steal with that Group 1 score and long stride length. Brendan Walsh 29% w/maiden 2nd starts. She put in a :47 work after her debut and had a couple of other freshenings since. If #13 Forever Boss (9/2) gets a crack at this race, bet her.

Gulfstream Park Race 2 – 50K MCL

3yo filles going 6f

You can make a case for any of the three below and I will side with Lucky Us (8/1) dropping from MSW company.

Gulfstream Park Race 4

$12.5MCL

3yo filles going 8f

2nd Lasix, a needed stretch out with her long stride and decent odds makes #2 Bella Gabriella (6/1). #2 Brody’s Honor may seem like a tough go, but the blinkers appear to be a hail Mary with the stark reality that their claim may not be what was expected. After all, how does a 2nd Lasix horse digress in that race?
