Wednesday Horse Racing: RT picks southern maidens at Delta Downs, Fair Grounds and Gulfstream Park

First post is the 4th at Gulfstream Park at 2:40 pm EST.

Maiden America 2.03.2021

Maiden races that are of interest today.

Delta Downs

Race 5 –

$30K MSW

3yo fillies going 6.5f

The connections for #4 Kleinmeister (10/1) dipped her down to an mcl last out and Anthony Arey picked her up. This will be her second race in nine days and third in thirty-five. Evidently what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. She scored a 71/76 in Group 1, so today she may get it together. #2 World Party (7/2) and #3 Mopsicle (9/2) have had multiple races between them and at this point, we have already seen their best, which will not be good enough to beat #7 Pi Yo Princess (2/1). Possessing a big stride of 25.41 feet, she will relish today’s stretch out from 5f to 6.5. 2nd Lasix, a race over the track and a tough jockey in Diego Saenz, all spells a recipe for the win.

Fair Grounds

Race 5 - $15K MCL

3yo’s going 6f

#5 BWP Special (9/2) has the goods yet has not put a race together of note. His score of 74/79 in Group 2 is indicative of his talent and today he takes a significant enough class break to get it done. #3 Flat Out American (6/1) takes a class drop as well and after slogging through the slop in his last, and only, he will get an easier go today. 2nd Lasix. Look for him to be a player. #1 Saint Goar (2/1) is going to be bet down dues to his recent speed numbers. Considering that he is coming straight back to the same level and maiden claimers are unreliable, the value of this play is not worth it.

Race 4 - $75K Optional Claiming N1X

3yo’s going 5F on turf

It is typically a bad idea to take a second time starter who won in its last and is moving up against winning horses. However, #6 Etched In Stone (2/1) put up a big ol’ 72 Beyer in his debut and given the par of 86, coupled with a normal pick up of 12 points in his second race, look for him to factor in this. That shorter stride of 23.88 is perfect for sprinting and his score over par for that day (68/65) in Group 1 company, represents his talent. After all, there must be something about this guy that drew Irad Ortiz to the irons. #3 Nitro Time (5/2) gets second Lasix today and may best all, including #2 No Que No (7/2)

Race 8 – $40K Allowance N1X

Florida bred 3yo fillies going 5.5f

Since following Breeze Figs, seeing an 80 is a first. Given her long stride length of 25.71 on #6 Lilac Lace (12/1), this is not the distance for her to excel, unless she can be the benefactor of a speed duel and kick in late. This very much can be a possibility, so you may want to use her underneath. #3 Mon Petit Chou (9/2) has been MIA since August when she broke her maiden in state bred company. Her works have been good and Gaffalione/Abreu solid at 38%. R Adios Jersey (5/2) will certainly get a lot of play on the tote board after crushing her maiden start by 12.75 lengths. However, moving out of mcl to allowance company may be a tall ask.

My money is going on Tyler and Mon Petit Chou
