Horses to watch today

Parx 1 Junglist – 2^nd Lasix and hit a 56 Beyer first race. With a par of 65 and average improvement, he should score above par. Given his setting the daily high at the Timonium testing center, he has an excellent chance to graduate….he’ll likely be bet down.

Tampa 6^th Beto’s Girl & Miss Tourista. Beto’s Girl – if not for the stride length relative to the one-mile distance of this race, coupled with setting the Group 1 record for the day she was tested, her background would not be a topic. Her mom ran four turf races and never finished better than fourth. Her dad, Paynter, never raced once on turf and her grandparents were not turf runners. Somewhat back in her lineage is Seattle Song, a European multiple Group 1 winner. Beto has had two races, the first a 5f turf where she ran evenly as if to be breezing briskly. The next, and last was drop for a tag in a 5.5f dirt race 11 days ago where she improved dramatically from the prior and pressed near the pace until tiring. Today, she goes longer on turf, which the turf going, at this point of her career, is inconsequential. The distance, with her long stride, will be of benefit. Miss Tourista – her dad, Tourist, was 14:6-2-3 for $2.1M on turf and took a few tries to break his maiden. This is seemingly the reason that Derek Ryan has only worked her four times and all at 4f. For today, she is not going to win this race, yet, given her 72/80 score, she is worth tracking.

Mvr 3 Landon’s Miracle and Making Me Crazy - typically, horses that run at C tracks, such as Mvr, and have been tested, have finished well at those type of courses. Making Me Crazy looks to be the better play. He has run three times and only one of those on a fast track, and that was a decent effort; getting show money.
