Two horses to watch this afternoon
12:40 – Mvr 3 – Tiz Independence – with a 27 score last time, he does not project to the 50 Beyer par of today’s race. However, if you factor in a muddy track to hinder the going in his last and first time Lasix today, you have a live longshot. Considering his stride length is that hearty, 5.5 furlongs is probably not his best distance, so if he runs a competitive race today, look for 2nd Lasix next time with a stretch out.
2:43 DeD 5 – Chief Alpha and Underdog. Chief Alpha – this horse seems like a bargain at $6.5K from KEENOV sales. His dad neared $1M in 19 starts, grandads with names of War Front and Forty Niner, he does not project to par. However, his rating out of OBS’ Group 1 is excellent, has an above average stride and gets 2nd Lasix today with a class drop. Coming back just 12 days since last race and six days from his last workout (a slow gate workout after breaking out of the gate in his last, a common 1st timer with 1st Lasix occurrence) expect a bigger effort today.
Underdog – will beat the favorite today. Projects to above par, has an excellent test score, two solid works since his last, and 2nd Lasix.
