Chalky Laurel played to us price players terribly yesterday. Let’s take a stab at three in Gulfstream.

Race 8 - $25K Optional Claimer N1X

Fillies and mares 3yo↑ going 8.5 furlongs on turf

#7 Princess Caroline (3/1) broke her maiden three back, which was over a year ago, entered in the G3 Jimmy Durante and as the odds on two months later, and ran even against winning horses her own age. She got up for third and was benched. Brought back in late August, she ran her last in a $74K allowance, chased the leader and eventually tired. Now coming back after four months, she has been working steadily for this winter debut. Chad Brown is 26% bringing horses off a layoff and whereas she is a competitive runner, she has never faced older horses. Pass. #2 Sansa’s Vow (20/1) Woodbine shipper is another lightly raced three-year-old who is coming out oof The $250K Wonder Where Stakes when she was beaten by a buzzsaw owned by Twitter buddy and fellow Minnesotan Al & Bill Ulwelling’s Marveilleux. She recently had two solid :48 works and has the wherewithal to stun today. Keep in exotics. #11 Setting The Mood (7/2) Pletcher trainee was last seen at The G1 $250K Belmont Oaks where Luis Saez caught fast fractions and being a speed horse against classier, hung in for fourth place money. Nice 5F work on 12/13 of 1:00.4 and Pletcher being a master at layoff horses, makes her odds warranted. #13 Coconut Grove (8/1) another Woodbine shipper and Pletcher trainee, this daughter of Empire Maker is not to be counted out. Just breaking her maiden last out, her best race is at this distance and she has a strong pace to close in on today. #8 Street Of Dreams (6/1) will be the one to catch and may break to an insurmountable lead.

My choice is #1 Lovely La La (15/1) changed to the barn of Saffie Joseph, was entered in an $82K allowance in the slop and fared poorly. This horse is a turf runner with a record of 12:3-4-1 for $185K on the surface. Edgar Zayas will get a benefitting rail trip and a fast pace to turn on the heat in the stretch.

Race 10 - $25K Optional Claimers N1X

My choice in this is #3 Apreciado (4/1) with #1 African Heritage (20/1) and #6 African Heritage (30/1) rounding out my trifecta and #7 Dundalk (10/1) for the super

Race 11 - $31K Starter Allowance

#6 Belgrano (8/1) is the pick. Paco/Frank Russo 33% winners and a recent race here has him moving into an excellent form cycle. #2 Mid Day Image (15/1) is going to be the one to catch and could prove tough. I’m including #9 Til The End (7/2) and #3 Imperial Mission (6/1) in my exotic wagers.

Happy Hunting 😊
