Bet Ohio Horse Racing: RT returns with picks for the 2nd, 4th and 5th races at Mahoning Valley

His first post is the 2nd race at 1:12 pm EST.

RT Report 11.24.2020

Thanksgiving week is a slow one in the normal occupation, so let’s look at three races form Mahoning Valley on the Ohio plains.

Race 2 – 6 furlongs, $21.2K Allowance for 3yo’s+ that are non-winners of two in their lifetime.

As thought, Tim Hamm scratched his last out winner, Reign Showers, from being a part of the coupled entry and 1a We The Clouds (7/2), the more experienced at this level, will go. Hamm 15% with horses off 45+ days and this Constitution filly will face the boys for her first time today. #3 El Supremo (6/5) is a false favorite and since being claimed by the Kelli Martinez barn, has been competitive in his last two. His last race was a major turn back in distance, going from routes for the past year, to a 5.5f sprint. He did have a late charge and the connections go for ½ furlong more today. He will be competitive, yet not my first choice. #2 Centrist (10/1) could potentially be the lone speed and has the back class to wire this group. Erik Barbaran returns for the second go ‘round and this gelding has responded well to him. Last out, Erik rated him as opposed to his speed style, and closed like a freight train to just miss by one length. We will see which way he chooses to run him. #3 Easy Tiger (5/1) is another filly entered who has experience against the boys. Look for her to set the pace and fade off. #8 Wyatt’s Warrior (20/1) was pulled up two back and returned for a nominal effort in early October. The horses from that race who have returned, all showed improvement in their next. Look for better in this.

I’m going with 1a We The Clouds to win and am going to trifecta 8-2/8-2-3/1a, 8-2/1a/8-2-3, 1a/8-2/8-2-3

Race 4 – 1 mile, $29K Allowance for 3yo+ that are non-winners of two

#5 Really Red (8/1) is third off a layoff and has been facing tougher. His record of 7:1-2-0 for $31K at Mvr is a solid omen and stretching out today is not the best game plan, however, he should hit the board. #6 Master Legionaire (5/2) is 9:1-2-1 for $34K at Mvr and returns as the beaten badly favorite in its last. Frankly, the odds on this horse does not justify its ability and I believe him to be an underlay. #9 Estrella De Dane (10/1) is going to be my choice and here is a video as to why:

Race 5 – 6 furlongs Allowance for 3yo+ fillies and mares, NW$y

1a Templement (5/2) regardless of the fact that trainer Nestor Rivera is 0/5 with first out claimers, this filly out of Tale Of The Cat has peeled off 8/9 wins. This does raise the question as to why she was not left in a protected race and dropped to a $5K claimer in her last? #2 Princess Trina (4/1) was claimed two back by Kelli Martinez and a month later was entered into a race where she was way over her head. This filly out of Smart Strike did put in a game middle move and the drop down today will be a welcome relief. Look for Christian Pilares to take her straight to the front and maybe wire this group. #5 JP’s Gladys (5/1): Can this be the day that she finally notches a win at Mahoning Valley? Always the bridesmaid, she has gone 4:0-3-1 here and after returning to sprinting, she appears positioned to get her first victory. However, losing is just as much of a habit as winning, so it is best to keep her in your exotics. #3 Paint Dakota (12/1). This mare cannot win any place else other than Mahoning Valley. Her record is 13:7-4-1 here and it would not surprise to see her grab this.

I like Princess Trina and Paint Dakota. How I’ll play them will depend on the toteboard.

Happy Hunting .
