Wednesday at Penn National: RT picks the 1st, 5th, and 6th races with the help of SmartCap

The 1st at Penn National has a post time of 6 pm

Took the day off due to fall beauty and relaxed. So, I thought I’d throw a few Penn National Races at you tonight.

Penn 1st – $28K allowance turf race for 3yo+ NWx going one mile

After inputting Equibase numbers into SmartCap, we have concluded that #9 Noble Authority (10/1) has the best overall class, last race and almost the top speed. However, he has yet to win a turf race, his rider is 0% his last ten days and the trainer is 0% from synthetic to turf. hmmmm #10 Chateau De Vizille (12/1) has second best class, best last two cumulatively and third best speed. His record at Penn on the turf is 4:0-1—for $12K and he seemingly is off whack the past few races. #1 Tachyron (6/1) has best overall speed and just missed closing. The notes stated “horror trip,” so, he’ll be live at a price. #2 Boats A Rockin’ (5/2) will take the most money on this due to his 5:3-2-0 for $35K turf record here, however, that record has come against a lesser class and we’ll see how formidable his effort is. #7 Allred is coming off of a strong win and has put up excellent speed numbers, yet versus claimers. Now, he moves up to an allowance race and this appears to be a spot where he can take it. #4 Sage Canyon (8/1) may make this interesting as the last time Edwin Gonzalez rode him, he broke his maiden with much breathing room.

I am going to stick with the 9 in this – 3rd off the layoff and has put up competitive numbers versus better competition.

Penn 5th – $31.6K allowance race for PA bred 3yo+ NWx going 1.25 miles

#6 Ron Don Scorese (7/5) is going to take a lot of money and has our best numbers. He is not a play due to him being the only 3yo and carrying the same weight at this distance as older horses. Instead, I am going with #1 Crazy Idea (6/1) who has a ton of experience at this track and distance. He is coming off the claim and trainer Demelza McMahon is 23% in this situation.

Penn 6 - $28K allowance race for 3yo+ NWx going 8.5 panels

Since time is brief, my choice is Iywaan (3/10 Tyler Connor back in the irons where he darn near took this same level of competition two back. First off the claim for Mark Salvaggio and this son of Candy ride is 7:2-2-2 at Penn for $30K

Happy Hunting 😊
