Two from Saratoga today where the weather will feel more like fall than summer. The high will be 70 and sunny skies are predicated. Bellisimo.

Race 3 - $74K Allowance race for fillies and mares 3yo+ NWc or NW2 on the turf going 11 panels

Given the distance, this is a tougher than usual race to call. So, looking at the numbers, we have #2 Quiet Dignity (3/1) having best last and best last two cumulatively. Irad 27% in routes and 18% on turf. Trainer Mike Maker 28% in routes and 20% on turf. She is 1:0-1-0 for the distance and 3:0-0-1 on Saratoga turf. #3 Coilean Brown (5/2) has best overall class and speed. Rosario is is 21% in routes and 21% on turf. Trainer Clement is 21% on turf and 20% in routes. #4 Cap De Crus (2/1) has second best overall speed and class. Jockey Johnny V struggling in routes at 10% and on turf, he is 13%. Pletcher is 25% in routes and 20% on turf. #1 Whatdoesasharksay (7/2) has a 29% trainer over the last 30 days, jockey Luis Saez is 15% on the turf and 11% in routes. She is the lone sped today and whereas this is always a good proposition, this distance and surface is not conducive to that angle. #5 Setting The Mood (4/1) is another Pletcher trainee that has Jose Ortiz up who is 28% on turf and 27% in routes. This lone 3yo filly may surprise today as she’s been competitive in all but one race. 4:1-2-0 for $47K.

It’s a tough call in this. I am going with #3 Coilean Brown

Race 6 - $25K Claimers for fillies and mares 3yo+ NW2

She’s A Black Belt (7/2) has best overall class, speed and last. However, her last was in February and trainer Michelle Nevin not known for winning in this situation (7%). Her works have been good and Nevin/Lezcano 33%. #7 Classy Sadie (12/1) has second best overall class and best last two cumulatively. Interesting how two races back, she was racing in a $500K stakes and today she’s in for a $25K tag. #6 Assume (6/5) in my virtual stable and coming off a big win and subsequent claim by Mike Maker (17%). She will go off at short odds and this is her first shot at racing against non-maidens.

I’m going with the 1 She’s A Black Belt – pending Jose keeping her off the dead rail.
