Race 5 – Post time 3:42 pm EDT

$40K Optional Claimer for fillies and mares NWx or NW4

Employing Equibase numbers thru SmartCap, we have #1 Irish Mischief (9/5) with best overall class and near best overall speed. She also has second best last race and best last two cumulatively. The reason is the obvious drop in price and although clas drops can mean an easier go of things, in this case, she hasn’t raced in five months and her last race was hardly stellar. Finally, Joe Talamo had a chance at this mount and opted for #4 Heaven’s Whisper (9/2). The latter, Heaven’s Whisper, is going for three wins in a row and has an excellent 2020 campaign going 8:4-2-1 for $108K. She is a closing type and given the speed in this race, has the chance at an ideal setup. #5 Peruvian Angel (7/2) has best last and near best overall speed and class. She has a 7:2-3-1 for $139K record in mud and with that, you can count on her being a part of your exotic ticket. #2 Headland (4/1) ships in from Prairie Meadows and has the best overall speed in this race. She shook her way clear by two lengths in her last, only to be caught at the 1/16ths pole. That day, she was medicated with bute and it appears that today she goes without. However, look for this speed type to set the pace. Again, Talamo had his chance on this mount and passed. #6 Take Charge Angel (5/1) with Corie Lanerie aboard, you believe that you’re always in game and this filly did not perform well in here last – a G3 race where she was soundly beaten by the likes of Mia Mischief and Bells The One. She drops back today, protected, to a level that she been competitive. #3 Shesomajestic (8/1) was claimed two back for the John Ortiz barn for $50K, then summarily blasted up the ladder to a spot where she was outclassed. Today, she has leading rider Rafael Bejarano, a 3:1-1-0 for $32k muddy track record and will be coming late.

I’m playing this:

Trifecta 3-6/3-6-2/4, 3-6/4/3-6-2, 4/3-6/3-6-2

#4 to win
