Congratulations are in order for Deshawn Parker for being the second largest earner of the entire jockey colony yesterday. Deshawn had seven mounts and won with four, totaling $178,640.00. Also, yesterday, I took a hit on the contest bank of $40 and did not get a chance to see the photo from Eaton’s Memory in the third. From the video replay, it appeared that he got second place.

Today we’re going back to Lone Star. The weather is hot and 94˚

Race 5

$25K Claiming fore fillies and mares 3yo+ NW3 going one mile on turf

#1 Sky Freak (4/1) gets SmartCap/Equibase best overall class and speed. She also has best last, however, that race was last September and discountable. Trainer Ingrid Mason 13% with horses off 6+ months. Her works have been average and this does not appear to be the best spot to bet her.

#11 Bee Bit (9/2) is 1-1 on LS turf breaking her maiden against open company in the spring of ’19. Broberg/Elliot hitting at 18% and Broberg 23% off 2-6 months, and 23 overall. She ships in from Fair Grounds and has had three good works since.

#9 Gioblast (5/2) trainer Bret Calhoun 23% with 6+ months off horses. She has co-second best class, speed and last race; again that was a year ago. At the end of March, she had a solid 6f work and has progressed since. This entry has never had a layoff, so the choice is to pass for now.

#5 Brilliant Slew (5/1) is co-second best overall speed and class as well as last. She also has second best last two cumulatively and has a race over the Lone Star turf. Her most recent race was in February where she veered in at the break and the inside turn and finished out of the money. Her works have been solid with a :48, 1:10.2, and a :47.8. She’ll probably hit the board, yet I doubt gets to the wire first.

#8 Mo Gayle (12/1) claimed two back into the Karl Broberg barn, she ran in a $21K allowance at WRD and just missed closing in on the leader. That was in the mud and most good mud runners make good turf runners, so now in for a tag, she appears in great form and ready to strike. David Cabrera in the irons again and she’ll be my contest pick $7/w $13/p.
