Tuesday at the track: Garrity plays a pick 3 at Lone Star Park

Post time of Race 7 is 5:45 pm Eastern, and other two follow 30 and 60 minutes after.

We have just one play today, the Pick 3 that covers races 7, 8, and 9 this afternoon at Lone Star Park. This is the kind of multi-race sequence we like: there are a couple of races that look very true to form sandwiched around a race that has the potential for chaos.

It will be hot, sunny, and fast and firm at Lone Star today. Post time of Race 7 is 5:45 pm Eastern, and other two follow 30 and 60 minutes after.

The 7th is an allowance at a mile on the dirt for horses 3 and older. Eleven are entered, but two of them are coupled, leaving 10 wagering interests. We think the entry, 1-Aqwaam and 1A-Starship Zues, both trained by Robertino Diodoro, is solid: if one does not win, the other will. We get both for the same price and will single the entry in our Pick 3 play.

The 8th Is a $7,500 claimer at 5 ½ furlongs on the dirt. Twelve are entered, and there are two entries, leaving ten betting interests. It’s a wide-open race, so we are going to spread: we are including both entries (1-Uncorked Humor/1A-Three Time Charmer; 2-Liljoe/2B-My True Reward), 3-Kasilof, 5-All Bizness, 6-Bravura Creek, and 9-Young Hendrick.

The 9th is a 5-furlong grass allowance for horses 3 and up. Nine go, and we think we can cover the race pretty comfortably by including the 7/5 favorite, 8-Tigerbeach, along with 9/2 third choice 5-Beta Lake.

This leads to the following ticket:

Lone Star Park, Race 7, PIck 3: 1 with 1,2,3,5,6,9 with 5,8.

This is ticket has twelve different combinations and will cost $6 at the 50-cent base wager level. We will play it for $4, for a total investment of $48.

That’s all for today. Until tomorrow, enjoy the racing, be safe, and, as always, good luck at the windows.
