Ruidoso Downs Friday pick from RT using SmartCap

Today we are going to sunny Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico where it’ll be in the high 80’s at post time for the 4th race. Post time is 4:18 pm EDT.

Since starting off in such a futile manner, I donated to the Permanent Jockeys Disabled Fund. Not to change luck, because I am not a believer in luck, but merely to show my support to a worthy cause and remind myself that I need to improve.

Today we are going to sunny Ruidoso Downs, New Mexico where it’ll be in the high 80’s at post time for the 4th race.

This is a $5K claimer for 3yo’s+ which are NW4 or NWs going 5.5f

#1 Sombra Negra (7/2) is going to take a lot of money due to the big class drop and has our second best overall speed and class ratings. He hasn’t raced since October of last year and given the number he raced against, that warranted his best last of this group. Trainer Casey Lambert is lame in bringing horses back after this long of a layoff – 6 wins for 0%.

#3 Sidney’s Hope (4/1) has our overall best speed and class, second best last and best races two and three back. Last out, he was in a $10K claimer for 3yo+ and won in a battle. In that race, when nearing the wire and the second runner neared, his ears pricked up and he dug in. This is a game horse. Today, trainer Todd Fincher sticks with jockey Shane Laviolette, where they are a 40% prop. Fincher is also 20% when off 2-6 months, 32% moving horses down in class and 21% when winning last.

#4 Westley (3/1) is #1 in earnings with $168K and is also a close second in class and speed. Last seen on February 22nd, he has a three works since and has a shot at hitting the board. Trainer Simon Buechler has been tough of late, hitting 50% winners in his last thirty days.

#6 Ziptime (6/1) has third best overall class and near best last. He had a race on 2/11 and retuned on 3/8, dropped class and ran evenly. That digressive pattern causes me to pass.

I am going with #3 Sidneys Hope in this, $15/w and $5 to place for the contest.

The sharp works he has had, plus the win in the last off a layoff leads me to believe he is capable of progressing to his last two races; which will be good enough to best these.
