Today is Will Rogers Downs. The weather is going to be sporadic today with a 25-40% chance of rain between noon and 5:00 pm EDT and increasing possibilities thereafter.

  • The rail is absolutely dead here. 30 races last week, one winner from the one hole.

  • Speed is dead as well…. except in routes. Look for horses rating near the pace until the ½ mile pole and then pulling away. There must be a strong headwind on the backside and a brisk one down the stretch.

  • When watching today, see which jockey takes his mount toward the center of the track. That seems to be the garden spot.

  • Diodoro leads in wins with 26, Scott Young is 2nd with 21 and Broberg has 17.

  • Jon Arnett is 43% in routes, Paul Smith is 44%, Asmussen is 25%, Diodoro 23% and Broberg as well as Young are at 20%.

  • In sprints, Arnett is 33%, Diodoro 31%, Young 22%, Kari Graddock 20% and Broberg is 19%

  • Ty Kennedy has 29 wins, Floyd Wethey has 29 and David Cabrera has 23

  • Ry Eikelberry is 35% in routes, Ty Kennedy is 24% and David Cabrera is 20%

  • In sprints, Kennedy is 29%, Cabrera and Goncalves are 24% and Wethey is 23%

Race 1

$5K Claimer going 1 mile for 3yo+ who are NWx or NW4

#10 Mega Honor (7/2) has the best overall speed and second best last numbers.

#2 Smok’n Policy (5/1) has best last and a steady improvement since the last

#4 Dad Said No (10/1) best class and best race two back.

#8 Springtime Mojo (12/1) best last, third off the layoff and best closing speed

#6 Producer (9/2) near best overall class and speed and near best last.

#7 Mr. Midtown (3/1) best races two and three back. Front runner has a bad habit of fading.

Mega Honor will rush to the front along with Mr. Midtown and #1 Sweet Idi (8/1). Smok’n Policy, Producer and Springtime Mojo near. As they reach the turn, Mega Honor and Mr. Midtown will be on the lead and Producer, Springtime Mojo and Smok’n Policy will be making their move. Down the stretch, Springtime Mojo has the best late kick and if jockey Gustavo Herrera can get a clear shot, he’ll take it.

Bets:

Trifecta 8-2/8-10-2/6, 8-2/6/8-10-2, 6/8-2/8-10-2
