After getting the first two legs of the pick four, my choice of All About Clara lost yesterday.
Since returning, I am 27: 8-6-1
Using $2/w and $4/place, that’s $167 bet, $182.70 returned: for a net of $16.70 - an roi of 9.4%.
In the first division of the Arkansas Derby, I am not on the Charlatan bandwagon. Yes, he has crushed the two fields he has raced against; however, he has never traveled and raced outside of Santa Anita, has never been this distance and frankly, albeit in grand fashion, has beaten MSW and optional claimers. Until proven otherwise, I am looking at Gouvernor Morris.
Todays’ race is the 1st at Oaklawn, a $40K starter allowance for 4yo+ fillies and mares who are NWx, going six furlongs. It will be a gorgeous spring day in Hot Springs with sunny skies and low 80’s. First post is 1 pm EDT.
#9 A.P. Princess (10/1) has our best overall speed and class figures and jockey Martin Garcia gets his second ride on her. She has her third race at the track since shipping from TuP and drops in price. She will be a factor today.
#1 Timely Tradition (3/1) has our best last figures off a $25K claiming race where she stalked and pounced at Aqueduct late March. Trainer Hamel is 24% with horses of 1-2 months and she has had two solid works since.
#2 Full Of Grace (4/1) has second best last numbers and is moving up the latter off a $40K claiming win here on March 6th. Trainer McLean Robertson 24% with 1-2 month layoff horses, 18% moving up in class and 27% with last out winners. Joe Talamo stays in the irons and she has been working lights out during this layoff.
#3 Miss Imperial (9/2) is first off the claim for Murray Duncan who has four winners in eight tries in that situation. This filly is looking to score her fourth in a row and second in a row win at Oaklawn.
I am going to take a swing with the 9 - A.P. Princess. I believe the pace will set up right for her and the class drop will be welcome.
