RT and SmartCap, coming off a second win in three race picks, pick the 9th at Gulfstream and like a former New York stakes winner
RT Report for Saturday, 4.18.2020
Yesterday, my choice of Mihos in the sixth at Gulfstream ran a stellar race to bring us a winner and paid $7.80 and $3.00. The exacta bet with Royal Squeeze had hope and then he tired in the stretch. The up-and-coming talented Sniper Shot passed him around the 16th pole and we lost that wager.
The count thus far is 3:2-1-0 with one exacta loss. For the $2/$4 bettor, that’s $22 bet, $39.30 in payoff, for a net $17.30 or a 78.6% roi…..if only it would stay like that 😊
Todays’ race is the 9th at Gulfstream, a $62.5K optional claimer going one mile on the turf for four-year-old+ fillies and mares which are NWx or NW3
Equibase numbers thru SmartCap shows..
Best overall class is #9 Art Of Almost (7/2) with #4 Dark Artist (6/1) a near second.
Dark Artist has best overall speed and Art Of Almost, #10 Picara (15/1) and #12 Bienville Street (8/1) near second. Also nearby are #8 Rideforthecause (5/1) and #3 Zarina (10/1).
For best last numbers, Art Of Almost gets that, yet a not so gallant performance last out as a 6/1 shot in the $750K Jockey Club Oaks at Belmont. Picara and Dark Artist are nearby.
Best second last goes to Rideforthecause, #5 Always Shopping (4/1) and Dark Artist.
Cumulatively, Art Of Almost gets best last two.
How does this race shake out?
Looking at the pp’s, it’s hard to ignore two pieces – a) Pletcher, who trains Always Shopping is 28% with off the bench types and b) this horse has only raced six times, yet has racked up $255k in earnings. The closest to that is the 11 and it took her 11 tries to get that much cash.
