Horse Racing: RT uses SmartCap to pick the 6th at Gulfstream Park with a post time of ~3:43 ET

This is a $62.5K optional claimer for four-year olds and up, NW2x or NW3.

Yesterday, Bourbon Currency ran exactly how I thought he would, yet got leg weary before being caught near the wire. The place bet paid $4.60, so a mild profit was made (I play win and twice as much to place in the event of a bad trip). So, if you’re playing from home, I’m 2:1-1-0, so for the $2/$4 bettor, that’s $12 bet, $25.50 in payoff, for a net $13.50 or a 112.5% roi…..if only it would stay like that 😊.

Todays’ race is the sixth at Gulfstream. This is a $62.5K optional claimer for four-year olds and up, NW2x or NW3. We’re going seven furlongs on the dirt and post time is slated for 3:43est.

Six and a half and seven furlong races are always an anomaly to handicap because there are fewer races going this length and it’s extra distance for some, and a cut back for others.

SmartCap has made #4 Do Share (4/1) the best overall class and speed #6 Sniper Shot (6/5) next best overall speed and #8 Mihos (9/2) next best overall class. Do Share has the best last (because it was a G2 event and that beefed up the numbers), however, I am going to pass on him for two reasons – 1) going from a G2 to an AOC and entering with a tag is not a sign of strength and 2) after watching a race yesterday where Emisael Jaramillo had my horse into position to win, then seeing the horse in the stretch with his ears pricked up and tail wagging, he did nothing. Zippo. Sat there. No encouragement, no prompting.

The ML favorite, Sniper Shot is a go against for me as this is his fourth race and second as a four-year-old, who is stretching out and facing older, more seasoned horses that have been graded and stakes winners/competitors.

My choice for today is #8 Mihos. He’s raced competitively against the likes of Tax, Tacitus, Code Of Honor, Vekoma et al. He has been a router primarily and was on the sidelines from September until late last month. In his last race, against similar, he went six wide on the turn and rallied to miss by a little over two lengths. His form and class will show today and Gafflione will have him in position to strike. I’m going to exacta box him with #7 Royal Squeeze - he is 19:9-3-2 for $434K at GP and 14:6-1-2 for $295K at the distance.
